My Work At Abt
Ever been to the kitchen showroom at Abt? Maybe you’ve seen my work!
I had the privilege of collaborating on the design for Abt’s beautiful walnut kitchen display, located on the main floor in the Sub-Zero/Wolf section.
Why a Walnut Kitchen? Why Now?
We wanted to showcase a kitchen that wasn’t white and still a classic, timeless alternative that reads luxury. People are looking for something different, and walnut delivers. It’s a minimalist approach with warmth, visual interest, and unmistakable quality.
In this design, we created a sophisticated interaction of textures by pairing the richness of walnut cabinetry with chalky blue paint and the elegance of polished nickel clear glass cabinet doors. Two-toned custom kitchens with blended textures are ideal for larger spaces, it prevents them from feeling flat or one-dimensional.
Thoughtful Kitchen Details Matter
Walnut’s natural grain is beautiful, but it can overwhelm if it’s not handled carefully. We selected a skinny shaker door style to keep the look clean and controlled – showcasing the wood without letting it get too busy.
One of walnut’s greatest strengths is its richness without darkness. It works well in kitchens without abundant natural light, especially when paired with white countertops for balance and brightness. And it’s the perfect complement to high-end appliances like the Sub-Zero and Wolf pieces featured in the display.
Make a Kitchen Statement
The space commands attention. It’s an impressive eight-foot custom hood that anchors the design, while the four-foot Galley Kitchen Workstation demonstrates both form and function. These grand specifications showcase how thoughtful design can elevate everyday living.
